STEM workshop

We had a STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) workshop led by the Cummins power group...

The children were challenged to create the tallest / best structure they could using only newspaper and sticky tape. In order to succeed, the children had to understand that you can affect the properties of a material by how you treat it - i.e. a rolled up sheet of newspaper is stronger than a plain sheet. In addition, they had to think about support columns and shapes to ensure it did not collapse. The children collaborated well during the session and should be proud of their efforts.
