Mummification in action!

Today we learned about the process of mummification by working through it step by step... Obviously we were not able to have a go on a real body (the morgue would not release any!) but we did go through the process on a tomato! The children had to make a cut before removing the 'organs' and cleaning the 'body' inside and out. Afterwards, a natron mixture was stuffed into the tomato before they were sealed up in a  bag. In 2 weeks we will open them up and investigate the changes!
