Maths and Mathletics

During maths the children in year 3 have been consolidating their methods of multiplication – either the number line or grid method, whilst the majority of year 4 have been exploring the concept of factors. The children had one data handling session where they produced bar graphs to showcase the results of our class votes of key School Council decisions, such as its name, mission statement, its makeup and term of office. On Friday, the children began to look at the final core operation – division.

 Times tables are essential in many areas of maths (and indeed everyday life) so do need to be practised regularly. They also underpin many of the key methods for both multiplication and division. Please quiz your child on them regularly – make it fun and interactive – there are plenty of times table games online too.
