Numbers numbers everywhere.....

This week we have been consolodating our understaninding of number and place value. We have been learning how to represent the tens and ones in different ways. We have done this by bundling straws, using tens frames, grouping cubes and partitioning numbers. Later in the week we moved onto using the Base Ten to do this also. We then progressed onto regrouping and exchanging. We learnt that ten ones is the same as one ten and played a fun game of fair exchange with our partner (as seen in the photo). Once we knew this we created a number in the teens out of ones and then we regrouped them into tens and ones. Once we had done this, we were able to exchange the ten ones for one ten stick. We have really worked hard and deepened our understanding through the use of manipulatives this week.
