Weekly home learning challenges: 22nd-26th June

It's week 4 term 6!

Good morning!

We hope all the daddies, grandads, uncles and any other special men in your families had a great Fathers day! We've (mostly) been lucky with the weather this weekend. Did anyone have a bbq? go for a nice walk? paddle in the sea? ride their bikes? We hope whatever you got up to you had a great time.

Remember these weekly challenges are for you to pick and choose what you feel able to do at home. There is no expectation that you must complete all the challenges. We would love to see some more of your home learning work and of course anything else you may be getting up to at home. If you get stuck with any of the challenges or are unsure of any of the work set please do not hesitate to contact us.

Happy home learning! :)

Reminder of the home learning folder:

We have created lots of resources in the EYFS home learning folder located at the top of the blog (password:Viking). We have created a Term 6 folder for RWI, Maths and Topic. We have put lots of printable resources, power points and lots of other learning ideas that support the tasks below. For example, topic this week may say please see the under the sea powerpoint. This means that we do not need to add the individual links to the bottom of this post as it would be too much but we have added tonnes of things to support your learning. If you have trouble accessing this then please message us.

Challenge:

  1. Mermaid size ordering – cut and stick in the correct order

  1. How many feet? - measuring activity sheet

  1. Outside – place 2 items  (toy figure, ball, hoop etc...) a short distance away from where your child is standing. Ask your child to find out which item is furthest away. Can they try different ways to do this? For example they could count strides or make lines of socks and count how many to compare the distances.

  1. Create a filling station (we’ve done something like this before) use different shaped containers to fill (using water, sand, mud, rice, pasta...). Ask children to estimate first before filling the containers and counting to check.

  1. Children to be human balance scales – place an item on each hand and ask them to tip to show which item is heavier and which is lighter. They could hold buckets or bags in each hand and place items inside to feel which has the stronger downward pull.

Love to learn challenge Week 2:  Plastic in the ocean. Can you go for another beach walk and collect any rubbish you might find. Remember to wear gloves or pick it up with a litter picker. Could you make a model with this rubbish (or fresh junk modelling if you would like) to resemble a sea creature. E.g. You may want to get some chicken wire to make a outer body and then put plastic on the inside to symbolise it being in their belly.

We have included some handwriting sheets below which match the sounds being taught each day. Some of them also have some green words to read too. If you need any extra support with sentences or green words then please email us.
