Monday's English - 22/6/20

We will be starting a new book over the next few weeks, so today I want you to make some predictions, based just on the title and the front cover design...

When we first share a book as a class, we often share just the title and cover and get the children to make their own predictions. Please do NOT look up the book on a search engine, that is not the point. Instead, using just the title and cover picture that is attached, can you begin to predict what the book could be about. For once, I DO want you to judge a book by its cover!

Questions to think about include:

  • Is it going to be fiction or non-fiction? Why do you think this?
  • If it is non-fiction, what information would be included?
  • If it is fiction, what be the story line, plot events, settings or characters? WHY do you think this?
  • Do you think you might enjoy the book? WHY or why not?

Your ideas could be written out as a short paragraph, as a mind map or even as your own blurb. Be as creative as you wish. Try to be as detailed as you can too.

Also, please go through and check basic punctuation – capital letters and full stops as a minimum!
