Maths
Get your brain warmed up by counting back. Start by just counting back in ones then, using a counting stick, number line or ruler try to count back in 2s, 5,s 10s. Here is a silly video to help you practice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GT0J178vjXg

I am learning to relate grouping (for division) to repeated subtraction.

Last week we looked at repeated addition being a way of multiplying numbers. Well, repeated subtraction is a way of grouping which can help us to understand division.

Take a look at these videos which explain repeated subtraction;

Repeated subtraction (for division) on a number line. This video shows the counting back method that we use for subtraction. It is done repeatedly;    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfNIbiUtKis

Here the video explains repeated subtraction with simple subtraction calculations

Once you have watched these have a go at completing the work sheet attached below (Repeated subtraction)

English Can I create a story map.

Today please create a story map of the story Ada Twist, Scientist.

Below I have attached an example of a story map. Hopefully you have done some before for our previous books so many of you will be experts.

Remember to draw/note the things that happen at the beginning, with the characters, important events or things that are said (speech), then what happens in the middle and at the end. Add as much detail as you can to all that happens in between as well (but don’t completely retell the story word for word, that’ll be too long).

You could re-watch the video https://vimeo.com/434086210 and pause it while you create your map at key parts of the story. Don’t forget the story map isn’t the entire story retold, it’s the key events, characters and speech that stand out for you.

Topic Continued.... I know a local significant person

Please finish off your writing task about one person that has either lived, visited, stayed or had an impact locally. There are quite a few to choose from. Maybe you have a relative that has been important in the community that you would like to write about. I have attached some resources about a few well-known famous people that have lived, spent time, worked or visited Thanet or Kent. You could use these to write a fact sheet (optional template attached) about them or as mentioned above, choose your own person of interest to research and write about.

If you need a little more inspiration take another look at the PDF file Local significant people and events or revisit the presentations and information packs I attached yesterday and on Friday 3rd.

If you were out and about over the weekend, did you take note of any blue plaques on buildings? These Plaques indicate if and when an important person visited, lived or stayed there. Maybe you took pictures of some. Who did you find out about? Sharing your findings on Padlet would be great!

Extra Note; Here are those links again about Blackface in case you came across the Uncle Mack controversy in Broadstairs.
