10/07/2020: Home Learning

Good morning, Team Amin! It’s Friday! HAPPY FRIDAY

What a week it has been! I've had lots of emails and pictures, seen many of you in school and my tomatoes have started to turn from green to red... very slowly! Missing you all as always, Team Amin, but I know you are all safe and well at home and that is what matters most! Hopefully, home learning in whatever form you are doing it is helping to pass your time and keeping you going with your education. Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend! I hope to see many of you in the final week for a picnic lunch! Miss Amin xxx

Learning for today:

SPELLING TEST (You’re testing yourself on the words from last week: T6W5!) When you are done, check out the words for next week (T6W6 in spelling section) and have a little practising session.

M: Start with a speedy recap of your 4x and 8x. You can do this with a dice game if you have dice, bingo, Hit the Button etc.?

You’re going to need time to work on your English best write so no specific Maths today, other than some time spent on Mathletics/Rockstars. If you do go onto Mathletics (passwords were stuck into your workbook on front page), work on Number and Place Value and your 4 operations in particular!

E: We are continuing with our write in best today! Again, you may have chosen to type your story out, hand write the entire story/ your favourite section. Please do continue from where you left off yesterday in the same way. If you started, but didn’t finish your illustrations, use the time today to finish!

Computing: Using Microsoft Word (or another programme you if you want to), design your front cover for your story. Include a bold title (try using Word Art), insert a background and pictures that are related to your story. Don’t forget to include your name (as the author)!

RWInc: Please find the relevant spellings and story text attached below for A Hole in my Tooth with today’s learning task.

Topic: We return, today, to learning about and celebrating how people of black and other ethnic minorities have contributed to British history. Today's amazing historical figure is Walter Tull!

Walter Tull was one of the first black men to break down barriers, such as playing professional football and becoming an army officer and leading white troops. Watch this clip to see an overview of his life. Make notes as you watch and then, if you want to, you can continue your own research online: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zbdq6sg

I am leaving you with a choice in task today. You might choose to write about the life of Walter Tull. For this, you could write chronologically (in order of time) and think about when and where he was born, his family and early life, his jobs, when he became a footballer, when he joined the army and his death.

Alternatively, you might like to research a person from history/sport who you admire and write a biographical account of their life.

Extra activities:

R: Access the class reader Powerpoint if you haven’t already and listen along and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. I have added chapters for you recently.

Have a Happy Friday! Happy learning! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures!
