21.04.2020: Home Learning

GOOD MORNING! I hope we all had a super Monday! I know I saw lots of lovely learning in pictures/emails and some on Padlet too!

Learning for today:

PE: Why don’t we try a bit of yoga today to start off our morning. Take a look at the site linked a few days ago on the blog (scroll down) for ideas.

M: Start with a speedy recap of your 9x. You can do this with a dice game if you have dice, on TTRS, Hit the Button, or you could practise chanting like we do in school?

We are going revisit rounding to the nearest 10 this morning! I find rounding tricky, but as long as I remember to underline the ones and circle the tens… I should be fine!

Take a look at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zh8dmp3/articles/zpx2qty

For rounding to the nearest 10, remember:      5 or more = UP   4 or less = DOWN

e.g.  34 =            1) Underline 4   2) Circle 3

                           3) 3 = 3 tens = 30 and my next ten up is 4 tens = 40

BUT underlining the 4 tells me I am going down to the nearest ten so…… 30!

e.g.  168=            1) Underline 8   2) Circle 6

                           3) 6 = 6 tens = 60 and my next ten up is 7 tens = 70

BUT I can’t forget the hundreds SO:  16 tens = 160 and 17 tens which is 170

BUT underlining the 8 tells me I am going up to the nearest ten so…… 170!

PRACTICE: Round to the nearest 10:

  1. 37        b) 73        c) 95         d) 112       e) 251       f) 306       g) 1858

E: Let’s explore the front cover of new core text! Have a look at the title, author’s name and illustrations! Read the blurb! What do you think the book is about? Have you got any questions about it? Is there a character you’re excited about? Where is the girl climbing to? Are there words you don’t know the meaning of! Jot down your thoughts! Don’t forget: a question still needs c____ l_____ and a Shi! Shi! Shi! Ha!

For our lovely RWInc-ers, you will find Mrs Fox has left you a task for today too! I reckon you'll be able to sort her writing out for her!

RE: Refresh! Read through notes/remind yourself about BUDDHISM (Buddha, Vesak, Ploughing Festival).

Today, we are learning about the festival of Loy Krathong! Take a look at the slides (Slide 4) attached below.

TASK: You will see you have a document today with lots of potential learning tasks you might do (Work 4). You can pick and choose what you do. Mrs Fox and I made the floating baskets last year! They were lots of fun!

If you find any FUN facts about Buddhism or make yourself a floating basket today, post to Padlet and share with your friends!

Extra activities:

R: Access the GG Powerpoint and listen along to Groosham Grange and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. I have ADDED the penultimate chapter!

Spelling: Practise this week’s spelling in time to test yourself this Friday!

French: Practise your French: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/z39d7ty

Happy learning! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures/upload to Padlet! I miss you all !
