Maths: Reading the time

We're learning how to read the time!

Year 3 have started a new unit in Maths and are learning how to read time! So far, we have explored the units of time, months and years, hours in a day and reading o'clock and half past! Time is really tricky, but we are doing so well already! Over the coming weeks, we will practise reading time all the way to the nearest minute too! Ask us all about it!

To help the children become more confident with reading time, parents and carers, please would you practise with them wherever possible. Asking rapid-fire style questions when you can like 'What time is it?' or 'How many minutes until bedtime?' will support them and give them opportunities to recall learning at home. If your child has a watch, please do encourage them to look at it and read the time from it too!

Thank you in advance.

Best wishes,

Year 3
