Shake, rattle and roll!

After learning about how engineers make buildings earthquake resistant in areas of the world prone to earthquakes, we were set the challenge of constructing our own, that had to be 50cm in height. We used cross-bracing, base-isolation and even tuned-mass-dampeners to keep our buildings from falling over on the ‘shake table’. Well done to everybody who put forward his or her buildings to be tested to destruction. Check out the pictures below...
