Take One Picture

Every year, our school participates in the Take One Picture Art competition set by the National Gallery. This week, the children have been finalising our class entry and it is now up in the entrance hall of the school - by the doors into the school hall...

The stimulus for the project is a painting by Claude-Joseph Vernet - A Shipwreck in Stormy Seas. The children liked the idea of telling the story of a shipwreck through a series of models. Our exhibit consist of three model ships: one sailing happily on a relatively calm sea; one facing difficulties on a stormy sea and finally a wreck of a ship on a sandy shore.

Although the work was begun last term, this week saw the frantic completion of our diorama - the painting, assembly and bases - under the expert guidance of Mr Brown. If you get an opportunity to pop in and have a look I am sure you will be impressed! A huge well done to all the children for their contributions as well as Mr Brown who worked tirelessly with all of the groups.
