Our new topic, 'Mexico: Then and Now' is a lovely blend of history and geography, exploring the amazing country located in Central America. A well-known festival from these parts is the 'Day of the Dead', where skulls are decorated to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed...

We tried to recreate these! Firstly we explored pictures and examples of images from the festival on the screen - looking for any common features. The children identified that many of the used bright colours, floral patterns and that there was often a sense of symmetry about the decorations.

Using this knowledge, the children created their own and put them up on display!
