After completing our Art 2 Start, the children began to explore the ancient civilization of the Maya, which covered much of the south of what is present-day Mexico...
Using our supreme map skills, we identified and labelled the countries of Central America. We then shaded the area the Maya used to rule and noted which countries this fell within (mostly, Mexico, Belize and Guatamala).
We then began learning a little more about their civilization - including their gods and quite how bloodthirsty they were! We will be continuing to study this once-mighty civilisation next week in even more depth!
