Today, we planted sunflowers!
We had the best time at Viking Games! Ask us all about it!
Year 2 really enjoyed having a look at different seeds and bulbs on Friday afternoon, learning where they are from and whether humans eat them! It was lots of fun exploring what they looked, smelt and felt like and comparing appearances. We even planted our own sunflowers! Ask us all about it!
Our Year 2 classes had a splash-tastic time this morning exploring capacity and volume outside! Using water and all sorts of measuring containers, the kids compared, poured, and read scales in millilitres like pros. They loved guessing which containers held a greater capacity and then finding out for themselves —plus, who doesn’t enjoy some fun water play?
To kick start our new book "Beegu", we investigated a crash landing in the playground. We heard a strange crashing sound, and discovered a mysterious glittery trail. It led us all the way to the playground where we saw a broken spaceship. We were so excited to find a little yellow ear peaking out of the spaceship, and we have written some INCREDIBLE recounts of the event. We cannot wait to do more writing about Beegu!
This week's spelling will be handed out on Friday 16th May. Children can bring these in on Friday 23rd of May in exchange for house points. They will be tested on this Friday. Please find attached the spellings below.
On Thursday 22nd May, Year 2 will be travelling to Chilton to take part in Viking Games!
Children will need to come to school wearing their PE kits with a colour T-shirt in their house colour, and wearing sports trainers.
If the weather is hot, please can children bring a hat, wear sun cream and have a named water bottle with them. If it turns out to be a chilly day, jogging bottoms and a jumper may be needed.
All children to come to school as normal. We will travel from school that morning and return to school for lunch as normal.
Please note this is not a spectator event. Sports Day to come in Term 6 though!
Year 2 team :)
In Year 2, we had a great time exploring mass using balance scales and lots of classroom objects like books, pens, toy animals, and fruit on Friday! There were lots of surprises and laughter as we compared different objects! We worked collaboratively, talking about our findings, and used words like “heavier,” “lighter,” and “equal” whilst working out how many cubes were equal to the mass of.... Ask us all about it!
Another delightful trip to the library! We love visiting and being able to borrow books from shelves filled with colourful books. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who joined us! What a brilliant community library for us all!
Have you seen Year 2's Art to Start? For our Art to Start, we had a choice of two creative tasks! Some of us created our own 3D paper bugs using a step by step method, and some of us explored the incredible insect specimens in resin. From this, we drew some stunning observational drawings of the beautiful minibeasts we had seen! It was so much fun cutting, colouring, sticking and being as creative as possible with our 3D creations, but we also especially enjoyed drawing so intricately from what we could see! Well done Year 2!
Please find attached the spellings for Week 3! They will be given out Friday 9th May and the children will be tested on the following Friday (16th May!).
