22/06/2020: Home Learning

Good morning, Team Amin!

It is Week 4 of Term 6 and a brand new week too! I hope we have all had a lovely, relaxing weekend. I have made lots of banana, blueberry and coconut pancakes, spoken to my family and read a new book!! I miss you all as always, but I do still hope that we are all staying safe at home :)

Learning for today:

PE: Find a safe space (Garden? Living room?) and do 20 jumping jacks, 15 mountain climbs (the runny crawly 'pretend we’re climbing a mountain' move we were doing with Joe Wicks) and 15 bunny hops OR have a go at the Viking Isolation Games challenges!

M: Start with a speedy recap of your 3x and 6x on Rockstars, Hit the Button, chanting etc. You might like to play Bingo!

Seeing as today is going to be another dreaded comprehension day, let’s also give ourselves a more fun (I hope) activity to start off with and do another mystery challenge today! I am attaching a new one which I know that we have not done before: The Mystery of the Egg and Spoon Swindler! Don’t forget to let me know who your culprit is.

E: Listen to the chapters of Varjak Paw if you haven’t caught up already. I will add more tomorrow. You might like to use the time to catch up with House with a Clock in its Walls.

Comprehension day: Today’s comprehension is all about the Vikings! How fitting considering that we are Viking Academy. I loved learning about the Vikings when I was in school and I think that you will really enjoy the little bit of information you will get about them in the comprehension text fact sheet alongside the questions for you to answer. Don’t forget that a worded question needs a worded answer in a full sentence. Let me know how you get on!

RWInc: We have a new book for the week! Please find the relevant spellings and story text attached below for Jellybean with today’s learning task.

Topic: Journal entry day! What has happened in your life over the past few days? What are you looking forward to? Why? Are you excited about the summer? What would you like to do? Don’t forget basic punctuation when you are writing!

Extra activities:

R: Access the class reader Powerpoint if you haven’t already and listen along and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. I have added chapters for you recently.

Spelling: Practise this week’s new spelling in time to test yourself this Friday: T6W3!

Have a great Monday. Happy learning! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures!
