Bug Club

New login details to come and allocations

Children were sent home today with Bug Club logins but unfortunately, the system decided to be funny for us all. Thank you, parents, who got in contact with me to let us know! All old login details have now been manually changed and new login details will be sent home tomorrow with the children. If you do happen to read this before tomorrow morning, if your child can bring in their reading record in their book bag, we can get their new paper login stuck in over the old one in their inside cover. Apologies for any inconveniences with reading online tonight!

Aside from this, I am currently reviewing allocated books on Bug Club for all children who were at school today that we base screened for word reading. Some of the allocated books will change, some may not just yet this early on in the year. Of course, reading book allocations will change over time as reading confidence, fluency and comprehension skills increase. If, at any point, you feel the books are too easy or too hard, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will rescreen them again once they have completed some comprehensions for the level they are on.

In terms of books that come home with the children in their book bag, this will not start this week so no books will come home tomorrow either. In KS2 and in Team Amin, children will be able to choose a book for themself to take home (from the library or reading corner) and we will log what they take in our own records. I shall go over the process with the children in the coming days and it will make more sense for everyone.

Bug Club is, however, still an incredible resource which focuses not just on word reading but also on comprehension. Please encourage your child to read as much as possible on Bug Club and to complete the comprehension questions as this really pushes their understanding and their retrieval and inference skills.

Look out for the new logins!
