Art to Start

Our topic is 'Global Trade' this term so today we looked at some Fair Trade art. Click to read more!

We looked at some artwork by an artist from El Salvador. El Salvador is a poor country in Central America. A Fair Trade group was set up there and the artist, Fernando Llort, taught the people who live there the skills to produce their own art. Their art is now sold for a fair price so the money they make can support them as well as go back into their communities.

We tried to recreate this piece of art which has large, blocky shapes and bright colours. It reflects life in El Salvador with the trees, plants, animals and Adobe huts.
