English last week

In our first full week back the children have been looking at poetry... The children looked at examples of poetry such as 'The Magic Box', 'Please Mrs Butler' and 'The Michael Rosen Rap'. Using these, the children have discussed what they like about different poetry, covering issues such as rhyme, rhythm, pace and content and have performed them too. The performances of the 'Michael Rosen Rap' in particular were very impressive! Using 'The Magic Box' as inspiration, the children have begun to plan their own poems too, which they will be writing next week in English.
