Literacy Festival: Day 3

In today's wonderful Literacy Festival workshop, Team Amin were joined by Jools Bentley, the author and illustrator of 'The Hippopandamouse'. Jools read us her story with fantastic expression and all of us were so engaged and had lots of questions about her book, the 'mistake' that resulted in the Hippopandamouse and why Jools had chosen to write or draw certain things. We were even more interested in learning about how her work is impacted by her editors and publishing house. After this, all of Team Amin lended our helping hands (or ideas!) to creating our own fantastic creature by offering our favourite animals, which Jools used to draw us a creature with various animal body parts. Our creation was fantastic, if not very unusual, and can be found amongst the attached pictures below. We then moved on to creating our very own creatures at our tables for Jools to look at!
