Dailly Challenges: Wednesday 20th May

Do you want to hear a joke about a pizza?

Happy Wednesday Team Spurrier,

I thought I would start with a joke this morning to make you smile :) If you think of any of your own, please message them to us or put them on the class Padlet.

RWI:

Miss Spurrier’s group- 00- look at a book 

Words for spelling: foot, cook, book 

Sentence: I looked at the cook book. 

Miss Taft’s group-  ck- tick tock clock 

Spelling: pick, stick, flick 

Sentence: Pick up the stick. 

Mrs Barnes’ group- au- I'm Paul the astronaut 

Words for spelling:  astronaut, launch, Paul 

Sentence: Paul the astronaut went into space in the rocket.  

Miss Merry’s group- ow – brown cow (don’t get confused with ow- blow the snow from set 2. Spelt the same, different sound).  

Words for spelling: brown, cow, now. 

Sentence: The brown cow is now on the towel. 

Please practice the handwriting of the sound with finger spaces, three spellings with the sound in and record the sentence with a capital letter and full stop.  I have attached a photo of how you may want to lay the home learning out in your yellow book.

Challenge: To find one more and one less.  Can you get a group of toys or loose parts or food. How do we find one more? The number gets bigger and we jump to the right on our number line. We add one to our group. How do we find one less? We take one away, the group gets smaller and we count back one on our number line. Can you challenge yourself to listen to your grownup and see if they are asking for more or less.

Topic

Theme: Growth 

Main: Minibeasts- Fact file. What facts have you learnt about your favourite mini beasts in this topic? Draw a picture of your favourite mini beasts or use the face file template below and tell us as many facts as you know.  

Challenge: With a grownups support can you go on the Internet and search google yourself for mini beast facts? Can you find the internet? Can you find google? Can you use your keyboard to type the words? Remember if something pops up that you do not like or know or if someone tries to talk to you then please tell an adult.

REMINDER MRS HORRIGAN'S P.E. CHALLENGE: 

TIMES TABLE SQUATS - Thought I would challenge both your mind and body for this weeks activity. I am really interested in how you get on with this one. 

SOCKS IN A BOX  - How many socks can you put in a box, I am sure your parents would love you to help with those unpaired cleaned socks, turn it into a game (socks in a box) and have a go. 

FIGURE OF EIGHT - How can you make it more challenging?

AIR BALLOON - If you don't have a balloon use something else, but find something that is light in weight, tissue paper, use your imagination.
