Happy (strange) New Year!
Getting used to home learning!
This certainly is an unexpected start to the new term and for those of us in Reception who are experiencing school lockdown for the first time, it is confusing and many of us are having trouble understanding why we can't see our friends at school. I'm sure things will get easier as we all get into the groove of home learning and we know that using Teams has not been easy for many of you! It is new for all of us and we are learning as we go to but we will get there!
Each day there will be 3 assignments for you to complete for Maths, Read Write Inc and Topic plus a Bug Club assignment to practise your reading at home. Many of you are enjoying using the interactive experience of reading with Bug Club! The Maths and Topic assignments are found in your class group (Team Smart or Team Spurrier).
We are extending the due time until 6pm as we have found that some of you have found it difficult to upload photos or videos of your work by 4pm. We hope this will help and make the assignments more manageable. You can submit work late - we will still see it, but if you do not submit anything - or even just view the assignment - you will be marked absent!
There will also be a daily RWI assignment. There are two groups, Miss Spurrier's RWI or Mrs Smart's RWI (these have the Fred the frog logo on). Please make sure you are completing the assignments for your group (go to Miss Spurrier's RWI if you are in Miss Spurrier or Miss Merry's group and go to Mrs Smart's RWI if you are in Mrs Smart's or Mrs Pilcher's group). Do ask if you are not sure which group you are in. There will be a daily speed sounds lesson just like we would do in school, which will be a video and an assignment with some work to complete and submit back.
There will also be a story time each day at 11.30, please do join us to say ‘hi’ and hear a story with your teacher and classmates! We are getting to grips with the live lessons which can get very noisy so please mute your microphone before joining the live lesson!
Finally, we would like to thank you for your help as we get online learning up and running! There have been a few teething issues but your support has been so helpful! Please do keep in contact, we are here to help.
