Alongside this, we also had a look at some real fruit and veg to compare the sizing and placement of seeds.

A lesson thoroughly enjoyed by all even if we did have sticky fingers and tables by the end !

We will also be bringing to an end our science experiment and drawing a conclusion about how the amount of water affects the growth of a plant... pictures to come later in the week !

We have finished our unit on measurement in Maths and are now heading onto fractions. To help with this, please make use of these websites and games to boost your child's recall of multiplication facts. All areas of Maths are improved by having an understanding of multiplication, but we particularly notice this when it comes to fractions.

For the next few weeks we are also seeing the effect of the amount of water on plant growth... our windowsills in class are full of experiments lately and the children are loving checking on them each morning. Watch this space for the results!

We talked about people we know and famous people who have dyslexia and how they have found ways to overcome challenges they face. For example because Aaron found it difficult to read and write when he had to share a story with his class he drew his story instead.

We also took part in an activity where we wrote in different ways to experience what it might have been like for Aaron if he was writing his story with words.

We had some great discussions and thought a lot about how Aaron kept going and found a way to use the things he was good at to help him.

Have a wonderful weekend,

During the day we will be completing lessons around 'How to be a Lion' by Ed Vere and taking part in exciting workshops throughout the day. Children will also receive a book token to spend in a local bookstore.

As a school, we want to create our own eco superhero league, and we need your help to design our heroes!

We have assigned one eco-friendly element per year group and we need you to design a superhero around this aspect.

There will be one winner per year group - your design will be picked by the eco-warriors and will be turned into digital art that you may see displayed around different areas of the school!

To enter, you need to return the letter that has been sent home (if you have lost it, they are attached to this blog post) with your design on the back, clearly displaying your name and year group.

The deadline for the competition is Friday 23rd February 2024!

To explore different types of shadows, we used a range of opaque, transparent, and translucent objects to create in our classroom. We created faint shadows and dark shadows, and even managed to create shadows of ourselves.
