First Weeks Back

We have had a fantastic start to Year 2! It has been wonderful to see the children settling back into school, building new friendships and showing such enthusiasm for their learning. We have spent lots of time playing, talking and learning together as we begin to establish our new routines and expectations.

One of our favourite activities so far has been collaboratively building towers using just paper and tape! The children had to work together, share ideas and solve problems when their towers didn’t quite go to plan. It was brilliant to see them practising our school values of collaboration, creativity and resilience as they designed, tested and improved their structures.

We have also been thinking about our feelings and worries. The children created their very own Worry Tool Boxes, exploring different strategies and people they can turn to when something is worrying them. We talked about how it is completely normal to have worries and how sharing them can help us to feel better.

In RE, we have begun learning about different religious leaders and the important roles they play within their communities. The children have been curious and thoughtful as they have discussed how different people lead, support and help others.

It has been a brilliant first few weeks, and we are so proud of how the children have started their Year 2 journey. We are looking forward to all the learning, laughter and adventures still to come!
