Multiplication test practise!
During the summer term, all Year 4 children will complete the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). This is a short, standardised government test that checks children’s recall of their times tables up to 12 × 12. It is completed online and has 25 questions. Children have six seconds to answer each one, with a short pause between questions.
The quick timing is often the part children find trickiest. Regular practice helps the answers come to mind more easily and makes the pace feel much more familiar. Children can practise using the below Mathsframe game, as well as spending five to ten minutes each day on Times Tables Rock Stars. Playing quick times tables games together at home is also a fun and helpful way to build their confidence.
