Maths Magic - Building Three Digit Numbers
Today in maths, we have been learning how to partition three-digit numbers by looking carefully at the value of each digit!
We used dienes and place value charts to help us see exactly what each digit represents.
For example, when looking at the number 352, we could build it using 3 hundreds, 5 tens and 2 ones. We then used our place value charts to organise our thinking and break the number into its different parts:
352 = 300 + 50 + 2
Using the dienes was a great way for us to physically see the number as we broke it down. We worked together to build different numbers, partition them and explain our thinking.
