This week in Personal Development, we explored kindness and thought about how we should respond when others are unkind to us. We talked through different scenarios and discussed how we can look after ourselves while continuing to treat others with kindness and respect. Through these conversations, we also enjoyed learning more about one another and celebrating the qualities that make each of us unique.
We also explored the idea of having a growth mindset. We learnt that finding something difficult does not mean we cannot do it—it simply means we cannot do it yet! We discussed how perseverance, practice and learning from our mistakes can help us grow in confidence and achieve our goals.
Next, we explored how democracy works in the UK. We learnt how governments are formed, why voting is important and how laws are discussed and made. We even watched Parliament TV to see inside the House of Commons and observe where important debates take place.
We also found out more about people involved in UK politics. We read an information text about Andy Burnham and answered questions about his life and political career.
In RE, we began learning about Sikhism. We explored some of the important beliefs and traditions followed by Sikhs and discovered how and why Sikh festivals are celebrated.
