Why do geographers divide up the Earth?
This week, Year 4 have explored how geographers divide the earth up into Northern and Southern hemispheres and tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. We looked at how countries closer to the middle line of the earth, known as the equator, tend to have hotter temperatures and harsher climates. Next, we looked at what makes up the earth itself and created a mini model of the inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. In our learning, we found out that the mantle it the thickest layer of the earth and this is where the molten magma from volcanoes comes from.
