Into the Forest with Team Hayzelden

In our English lessons, we have been busy focusing on developing our book talk. We have spent time today exploring Anthony Browne's illustration choices, such as using a monochrome colour palette to show the forest in the book, and the effect they have on the reader. We have spent time discussing our thoughts about the book and making inferences with our partners and as a class, before working in groups to annotate a page in the book with all of our ideas.

We then began to think about how we could use our previous learning on adjectives and nouns to come up with phrases to describe what the character would be able to see, hear and smell in the forest. We wrote these on post-it notes and stuck them around our picture. 

We have been so impressed with Team Hayzelden's mature and positive attitude towards this learning!
