Reading

Good evening!

Yesterday afternoon, all of the children were issued with both a reading book and reading record. Reading is an important skill and helps our children to develop their vocabulary and understand how stories and other texts are working. Please take the time to read regularly with your child. Other book offerings have all been placed in baskets in the classroom and will be switched regularly. Please encourage your child to take responsibility for changing their own book as part of their morning routine. Reading records will also be checked from time to time and there will be prizes given out for any pupil managing 100 reads in the year!

Note that our reading books are banded and I have issued them based on where they were at the end of last year or based upon having heard them read to me. Please feel free to speak to me if you feel the book is too easy or too difficult and we can adjust it accordingly.
