Hands on History
We have been loving the topic this term . . .
As you know, we have been loving this topic this term as we have been having a look at Britain over time and how everything has changed. Before we start looking at famous faces from British history, we dove into some hands-on lessons by holding, examining and even using items from across the last 100–200 years.
Ms McCurry leant us her typewriter, Victorian telephone, and fax machine, while Mr Pressley's grandma donated a newspaper from WW2 and some pre-decimal coins.
Henry, Elsie, Jacob, Arbjana and Teddy all supplied extra artifacts for us to discuss and hold. While Mr Budge even brought in his old Sega Mega Drive which we got working!
Children had the chance to sit in a 1920's-inspired car, look through Ms Aldred's grandad's telescope and ring a Victorian fire alarm Ms Marfleet brought in too.
Everyone has been brilliant during this topic, and we are currently enjoying learning about how crime and punishment have developed and changed over time too – from Roman Britain to now.
