RAPS Children Bowled Over By Cricket Sessions

Cricket fever has hit sporty youngsters for six at Ramsgate Arts Primary.
This term children have teamed up with Chance to Shine in partnership with Kent Cricket, who are delivering a six-week cricket programme.
The sessions have been a real hit - for many, it’s been their first proper introduction to cricket from a professional coach.

PE lead Alice Piper said: “It’s been such a great opportunity for RAPS and our pupils are absolutely loving the sessions. We are always looking to bring in new and exciting opportunities for our pupils, and this has been a fantastic addition to our Mondays.
“It’s part of a two-year partnership, so we’re hoping to welcome them back for another series of coaching.”
Head of School Nick Budge added: “Learning from cricket experts is inspirational and is really benefiting our young players who are developing skills, techniques, teamwork, and a real love of the sport.”
Chance to Shine is a national charity that aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket and it believes that cricket can help to develop the personal, social and physical skills, delivering to around one million children every year by working with partners such as Kent Cricket.
It states: “As well as the physical benefits of regular activity, we use cricket to teach children important key life skills that will help them beyond the playground. Through the values of cricket, we teach children about respect and fair play.
“Cricket is also an effective way to develop skills like communication, leadership and perseverance that will benefit them throughout their life.”
