Seaside Special for RAPS Youngsters

Life’s a beach for little children at Ramsgate Arts Primary who enjoyed a fun learning treat at the seaside.

The beach bonanza for Reception and Year 1 pupils made the most of the hot, sunny weather while taking their learning beyond the classroom.

Reception pupils visited Ramsgate main sands as part of their term topic People, Heroes and the World where they have explored different locations both locally and across the globe.

The visit gave them an exciting opportunity to explore a local coastal environment and experience the beach first-hand.

The trip to Viking Bay in Broadstairs supported the Year 1 topic theme Where We Are, through which pupils have been learning about their local area, the features of the coast and how to stay safe on the beach.

This group made sandcastles and explored coastal features before enjoying a special visit to Kiddies’ Corner. The staff kindly opened especially for the school and gave the children exclusive use of the area.

Pupils had great fun on the roundabout, boat swings, giant slide and bouncy castle, making the day an especially memorable experience.

Assistant Head of School Louise Chidwick-Day said both outings were a wonderful success.

She added: “It was fantastic to see pupils learning through experience, exploring their local coastline and enjoying the sunshine together.

“We are especially grateful to the staff at Kiddies’ Corner on Viking Bay for opening especially for us and giving the children such a warm welcome.

“We would also like to thank staff, volunteers and families for their support in helping make both trips possible.”

Head of School Nick Budge said: “The beach trips were a real treat for our younger children. They had a fabulous time exploring the sands, playing games, enjoying activities and finding out more about their home area in support of their classroom learning.

“We are fortunate to have miles of safe, sandy beaches in our area and a seaside special day out that included fun and gaining knowledge was ideal.”

Ramsgate Arts Primary School is part of the Viking Academy Trust with Upton Junior School and Chilton Primary School.
