fantastic fractions...

Now that we can find fractions of shapes and have a good understanding of what halves and quarters are, we have moved on our learning to find out about fractions of number. We started the week by using our sharing circles to equally share out cubes with our partner into halves and quarters. We did this by counting out the cubes and then putting a cube at a time into each section until they were all in a circle. We then had to check that we had the same in each and write the answer. As we gained confidence, we were able to do this independently and then we moved our learning onto recording using jottings instead of the cubes. Finally, at the end of the week we found out that not all numbers can be divided into halves and quarters and we had great fun finding those numbers.
