  • Personal Development Week

    Published 06/06/25, by Lauren Merry

We've had a busy and exciting Personal Development Week in Year 1, filled with learning, reflection, and lots of discussion!

We explored aspects of Hinduism, learning about Ganesh Chaturthi, which celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. We also found out about Raksha Bandhan, a special festival that celebrates the bond between siblings, and Diwali, the festival of lights.

We talked about how sleep, healthy food, and regular exercise help us to stay happy and healthy, both in our bodies and our minds. The children enjoyed thinking about the different ways they can look after themselves each day.

As we near the end of the year, we’ve been thinking about our favourite memories from Year 1 and discussing how Year 2 might be different. There were lots of thoughtful reflections and great conversations about growing up and feeling ready for new challenges.

Finally, we reminded ourselves about the importance of handwashing to stay clean and stop the spread of germs.

It’s been a fantastic week of learning!

Just a quick reminder that class photos will be taken on Monday 9th June.

Please ensure your child comes to school in their full school uniform on the day. There is no need to send in PE kits, even if your child usually has PE on a Monday.

We’re looking forward to seeing all the children looking smart and ready for their photos!
