Support Thanet Families – School Donation Drive

On Friday 12 June, we’ll be coming together as a school to support Mama to Mama, Thanet’s local baby bank.

We’re inviting the children to bring in one item from the attached list (or more if they wish) to help families in our community who are facing poverty.

    • All items must be new and unused
    • Supermarket own brands are absolutely fine - there’s no need to buy expensive products

    • Please do stick to the list, as it includes what families need most right now and helps the charity manage limited storage space

    Thank you for your support.

  • Excellent English - Team BC

    Published 14/05/26, by Joshua Cialis

We've had a great time in Yr 2 writing our follow-on narratives for The Lonely Beast. We designed a friend for the Beast and imagined what they would do together. We thought carefully about constructing verbs and adverbs to describe what activities they'd do together. We then wrote our story over 3 lessons and edited our work.

After we had published our stories, we had a writing celebration where we read each other's work and enjoyed eating cakes (just like the beast). Ask us about our story.

  • Team B-C: Viking Games is coming up

    Published 11/05/26, by Kiki Amin

On Wednesday 20th May, Year 1 and 2 will be taking part in the Viking Games at Chilton with children from across the Viking Academy Trust.

Viking Games is a fun sporting event where children work in teams and take part in a range of different activities and challenges. It is a lovely opportunity for the children to be active, show teamwork and enjoy representing RAPS.

Children will need to come to school wearing their house-coloured top and their PE kit clothes.

Please also make sure your child brings:

    A named water bottle
A hat if it is sunny
A named jumper and coat if it's cold

Parents are not able to watch this event, but we will share photos after the event.

  • Marvellous Measuring in Team B-C

    Published 08/05/26, by Kiki Amin

Today, Year 2 learnt about measuring in metres. We discussed how 1 metre is equal to 100 centimetres and explored when and why we use metres for measuring larger objects. The children became measurement explorers and measured the height and length of different things around the classroom, including doors, display boards, baskets, books and chairs! We even measured the length of the classroom and the height of our adults! Year 2 had to identify whether objects were greater than 1 metre and less than 1 metre – which was lots of fun! Why not test us!

  • Super Storyboards in Team B-C

    Published 07/05/26, by Kiki Amin

Year 2 finished reading their core text, The Lonely Beast, last week and started to work on their own storyboards and story maps. Drawing together simple sentences, different sentence openers, key punctuation and their own illustrations, the children in Year 2 have produced some incredible work that they are rightly very proud of! Ask them all about it - if they were to create their own Beast story, what would it be about?

  • Team B-C: Art to Start Term 5

    Published 27/04/26, by Kiki Amin

This term, our topic is called ‘Life as a Journey’. For our Art to Start, we explored some of the incredible insect specimens in resin that we have at RAPS! They reminded us of our Pfizer workshops in STEAM week, when we studied different creatures encased in resin too. From this, we drew observational drawings of the beautiful minibeasts we had seen! We especially enjoyed drawing so intricately by using the magnifying glasses to see closer! Come and have a look at our Art to Start display once it goes up inside our classroom!

  • Perfect Planting - Team BC

    Published 24/04/26, by Joshua Cialis

This week, Yr 2 have been getting outside for some gardening. We began Thursday with a talk by Wilderness to Wonderland, a voluntary organisation who look after community gardens around Thanet. We will be helping them by nurturing some baby plants until they are big enough to be planted at Margate train station.

We really enjoyed planting the tiny plug plants into bigger pots. Now all we need to do is keep them watered and happy!
