Children at Ramsgate Arts Primary School began Anti-Bullying Week 2025 by joining a special BBC Live Lesson all about this year’s theme: 'Power for Good'
We love practical Maths in Year 2, especially because it means we can choose resources and strategies that best support us to solve tricky addition and subtraction questions. Why not test us on our number bonds at home?
Please find this week's spelling words attached for next Friday's spelling test.
Today we took part in various maths activities to investigate addition. We practised our number bonds to ten and used this knowledge to complete addition problems. Some of us hunted around the walls to spot the sums which were hidden in the classroom. Others played games in pairs to practise number bonds to 20.
What a fun Friday in Year 2 and at RAPS with both Halloween and a Disco! Thank you, parents and carers, for your support – what a wonderful way to end Week 1 of term.

Today, we began reading The Secret of Black Rock by Joe Todd-Stanton. We had so much fun seeing the illustrations, waving when we heard key words and phrases and immersing ourselves in our text! We then summarised the text with our partners and created our own roleplays for key moments, thinking carefully about how our characters might be feeling. We loved being the Black Rock, Erin, Archie, sea creatures and the fishermen and fisherwomen! Well done, Year 2
Team B-C have started to delve into fitness circuits in PE today... which left us very tired! We will be working on building our speed, stamina and agility over the next few weeks! Today, we played Fruit Basket and learnt how to 'Kangaroo Jump', 'Cheetah Sprint' and even hop like a bunny! Ask us all about it!
This week, we were visited by some children from Year 3.
In English this week, we will be planning our own original stories so that we can enter the BBC's 500 words competition. This is a nationwide short story competition for 5-11 year olds. There are excellent prizes to be won for the children and for the school, as well as a chance to win a ticket to the star-studded final held at Windsor Castle. This year, we will also hold a school-wide competition with some local stars (Mr Holliday, Ms O and guests!) judging our in house winners!
The children will bring their plans/stories home over half-term to finish and edit. They will then need to submit these online to the BBC as well as bring them in to school on Tuesday 21st in order to enter our school competition if they would like to.
