  • Team B-C take on some drama!

    Published 29/10/25, by Kiki Amin

Today, we began reading The Secret of Black Rock by Joe Todd-Stanton. We had so much fun seeing the illustrations, waving when we heard key words and phrases and immersing ourselves in our text! We then summarised the text with our partners and created our own roleplays for key moments, thinking carefully about how our characters might be feeling. We loved being the Black Rock, Erin, Archie, sea creatures and the fishermen and fisherwomen! Well done, Year 2

  • 500 Words Competition

    Published 15/10/25, by Kiki Amin

In English this week, we will be planning our own original stories so that we can enter the BBC's 500 words competition. This is a nationwide short story competition for 5-11 year olds. There are excellent prizes to be won for the children and for the school, as well as a chance to win a ticket to the star-studded final held at Windsor Castle. This year, we will also hold a school-wide competition with some local stars (Mr Holliday, Ms O and guests!) judging our in house winners!

The children will bring their plans/stories home over half-term to finish and edit. They will then need to submit these online to the BBC as well as bring them in to school on Tuesday 21st in order to enter our school competition if they would like to.
