Team A-M do World Book Day 2026!
What a day! Happy World Book Day!

What a day! Happy World Book Day!
Year 2 have been studying British money. We have learnt how to identify the different coins and notes. This week we practised adding different amounts of money to find the totals, finding change, using different coins to make a given amount and matching coins to totals.

Our Year 2 children arrived at school to discover something incredible — a mysterious spaceship had crash-landed on the school field! The shiny wreckage, scattered “space rocks,” and strange footprints sparked instant excitement and curiosity. The children became space explorers, investigating clues and writing brilliant questions about its alien pilot. Who was on board? Where had it come from? Why did it land here? Throughout the term, the crash will inspire creative writing, teamwork, and imaginative role-play. What an unforgettable way to launch our new English text — learning truly blasted off in Year 2!

We hope you have all had a lovely week and that you were able to relax and recharge ready for this Easter term. Keep an eye out via the RAPS newsletter, our class blog and classroom windows for more information about the term ahead. Parent reading will be on alternate Wednesdays at 2.40pm, World Book Day approaches, and we also have a Topic Theme Day to come! Best wishes, Year 2 team :)
World Book Day is coming! Thursday 5th March!
What a super start to our final week of Term 3! We loved welcoming the author and illustrator Rachel Tilda Wolf into RAPS to share her book Bear’s Perfect Dance! She talked to us about her writing and her beautiful illustrations, and how stories can develop over time. It was such an inspiring visit that got everyone excited about books and writing, and we loved taking part in a draw-along session afterwards with her! Thank you, Rachel!
This week, Yr 2 are learning about balanced diets in Topic. We have learnt about all the different food groups and what they help our bodies to do. We have also looked at the Eat Well Plate which shows us the different foods we should be eating and the proportions we should eat them in. Over the week the children will be using the eat well plates they have created to plan a healthy lunch box meal.

What a fantastic morning for Year 2 today with a series of experiments and activities with the Pfizer team! Ask us all about it!
We started day 4 of STEAM week with an 'hour of code.' We created a code to play a game on the iPad. Team A-M showed fantastic resilience and perseverance as they overcame the challenges involved in this activity. Next, we collaborated in small groups to design and make a marble run. We were able to test out, troubleshoot and then adjust our designs so that the marbles ran smoothly down the ramps. After lunch, we used lollipop sticks and elastic bands to make catapults. Then we practised firing at a target. Finally, our busy day ended in a hands-on workshop called 'School of Noise,' where we got to experiment with interesting equipment to produce different noises (ask us about the vegetables!)
