11/06/2020: Home Learning

Good morning, Team Amin!

Learning for today:

PE: Find a safe space (Garden? Living room?) and do 10 jumping jacks, 10 squats and 10 bunny hops. You might even choose to complete the Viking Isolation Games challenges.

M: Start with a speedy recap of your number bonds to 20. Hit the Button will be useful for this.

Today, we are going to be recapping subtracting 3 and 4 digit numbers with regrouping, including with decimal values and focusing with 0s. Don’t forget to make sure your columns and decimal points align. If a question includes a £ sign, don’t forget that too!

E: The Way of the Ninja Cat.

What is the way of Jalal? What is Slow Time? What is Moving Circles? What is Shadow Walking? We’ve heard about these cat techniques but we don’t know much about them! But what if these ‘ninja cat’ techniques also weren’t the ONLY ones. What if Mesopotamian Blues like Varjak and other cats had more special moves?! If we're caught up with the, we know there are definitely more!

So, a little bit of fun for the end of this week. We are going to create our own Ninja Cat way with our own special moves and plan and create our own WAY OF THE NINJA CAT information sheet! Imagine a checksheet for all young ninja cats training in The Way.

You could use Slow Time. Moving Circles. Shadow Walking as your inspiration, or come up with your own techniques (What about Hunting - for hunting for food? Hypnotising - for distracting enemies?)! What will these techniques involve (arm/body movements, special words)? When will they be best used (in the night, for climbing trees, for running away from dogs…)?

Today is your PLANNING day and you are going to brainstorm your ninja cat techniques. Things to definitely think about:

  1. Name of technique
  2. Best used when….
  3. Body movement
  4. Special words that need to be said
  5. Equipment needed
  6. Breed of cat best known for using this technique

You could use the Internet to find out more about other ‘real’ cats and use them (or your own pets) as inspiration too! Tomorrow, you will work on creating your ninja cat info sheet - maybe as a piece of beautiful work?

RWInc: Please find the relevant spellings and story text attached below for Jade’s Party with today’s learning task.

Topic: Today, we are thinking about the significant of ‘sharing’. Explore Slide 6’s slides and respond to the questions posed. When you get to the plenary, I would actually like you to pick five words to use in sentences. You may use more than one in a sentence.

Extra activities:

Viking Games: Complete the challenges and send a picture/video to Mrs Horrigan!

R: Access the class reader Powerpointsand listen along and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice.

Spelling: Practise this week’s new spelling in time to test yourself this Friday!

Have a TERRIFIC THURSDAY. Happy learning! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures!
