Christmas play season! We have been working so incredibly hard and am so excited to share it with you all on Wednesday 18th December.
Spellings this week will be handed out on Friday 6th December and will be due back Friday 13th December. Spelling sheets can be traded in for house points on Friday (or any other way you have practised your spellings).
On Monday in Year 2, we explored the song ‘This is the way we brush our teeth’, and started to collaborate with our partners to write our own verses for it! Ask us all about it, we had so much fun!
Christmas has arrived at RAPS. On Mindfulness Monday, we had the chance to decorate a Christmas tree together with some of our friends in Team Amin-Barnes! Come and have a look, it looks beautiful! Key dates for the Christmas period can be found on the Year 2 classroom windows and the newsletter.
We went on a hunt today to find treasure using a map of the Key Stage 1 corridor! It was lots of fun! Ask us all about it!
Please find attached this week's spellings! They will go out this Friday and will be due back Friday 29th November.
On Thursday 21st November, Year 2 will now be visiting our local library again in the afternoon. Please remember to send your child in with their library card and any books they want to exchange.
If you are able to join us for the walk and at the library, please let a team adult know! It would be very much appreciated.
Team Amin-Barnes - 12.30-1.30 (parents to arrive for around 12.20pm please)
Team Morris - 1.30-2.30 (parents to arrive for 1.15pm please)
Thank you in advance :)
A polite reminder that children should only have healthy snacks packed in their bags. The following are not acceptable as breaktime snacks: crisps, chocolate, brownies, sugar waffles and anything with nuts. Appropriate snacks include, fruit, vegetables, popcorn (not toffee) and cereal bars. Please note, we are trying to encourage healthy eating and any unhealthy snacks will be removed and given back to parents at the end of day. Fruit is provided in KS1 throughout the day. Thank you for your co-operation.
Please find attached this week's spelling homeworks. This term, there will be two spelling homework groups to support children as they transition through the RWInc and Hybrid groups. Each group's spelling words will focus on a mix of statutory words and tricky spellings we have noticed. Each Friday, the children will be given their sheet to take home and practise with and the following Friday, they can hand their spelling sheet to their teacher to collect house points. This has been explained to the children 🙂
Just a reminder for this weeks spellings - due Friday 15th November!
Our inspiration for Term 2’s Art to Start was Andy Goldsworthy! We explored his sculptures, discussing the materials he uses and the locations his art is found in. We now know Andy makes sculptures using natural materials in UK and around the world including in forests, fields or cities. We talked about our favourite pieces and why we preferred them, before leaving the classroom and trying to be like Andy Goldsworthy ourselves! Outside, we used natural materials such as stones, conkers, sticks, leaves and mud to create our own sculpture. Our sculptures included a classroom, a clock, flowers and spirals!
