Miss Vost has asked if members of our school community might be able to contribute towards making the rag wreaths this year. This year it will have to be run differently so unfortunately Parents/Carers will not be able to join us, however we would still like this craft to take place. She has asked if anyone has any wire coat hangers, thin materials, tinsel or spare christmas decorations, please could you send these into school this week. Best wishes, RAPS Team.

Dear Parents/Carers ,
Several of my Year 2 staff had tested positive for COVID 19, they are better now but are still required to self-isolate until Midnight on Thursday 19th November.
Sadly, as I do not have enough Year2 Teaching Team to cover either Team O’Kai or Team Rees-Boughton on the original return date of Thursday 19th November the children will now be due back on Friday 20th November.
Learning will continue via Teams for the Thursday 19th November as it has been for the last 2 weeks. If you have been unable to access Microsoft Teams or need support in doing so please contact the School Office.
Thank you for your understanding in advance.

Re: Primary School Applications for September 2021
The below message was sent out in September, but many parents did not complete as they were concerned it was not a genuine email. We can confirm that this is a genuine email and you can complete the survey.
Thank you RAPS team
"The Kent School Public Health team wishes all the new starters in reception good luck for their first year at school. Reception year is an important time for your child as they settle into school life. Children are offered three health checks in reception including hearing, vision and height and weight. We also ask ALL YEAR R parents to complete an online health and development review to help identify any health needs your child may have, so support can be put in place for them. We work in partnership with KCC so you will have received emails from them about this.
We offer health and development review questionnaires for children in YEAR R to help us to identify any health needs early so action plans and support can be put in place to give children the best start possible in primary school. A child may have a long-term medical condition, like diabetes, asthma or anaphylaxis, behavioural needs, or perhaps need counselling to cope with bereavement or a relationship problem. We want to support children to reach their full potential by identifying and supporting them with these needs.
To complete the survey, please click this link https://kent.hapi-system.com/school-entry. The survey should take around 15 minutes and you will need to enter the password/location where your child’s school is located (please note, the link and passwords are case sensitive):
Good afternoon, this is a reminder that Breakfast and After School club MUST be booked in advance via the school money website. Even if there is credit on your account the spaces Must be booked to ensure our bubbles are not too big, and we have the correct staffing. You will only be able to book a place if we have received the correct forms. I have attached a copy of our new Extended day policy.
*Dear Parent/Carer, please can we remind you that Secondary School Applications close on Monday 2nd November and that you will need to apply for a secondary school place for your child before this date. You can do this by following the link below:
*Good afternoon, from all of us here at RAPS we hope you have an amazing Half Term, and we look forward to seeing you back here well rested on Tuesday 3rd November. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Best wishes, RAPS Team

Dear Parents and Carers, we have had a number of complaints from the local community regarding how some of our school community are parking in the neighbouring roads. We are aware that there is a shortage of parking on site and in some of the neighbouring roads, however we would like to ask that you are considerate in the way that you park. Please can we ask that you do not park on residents driveways, across their driveways and that you park in a manner that will allow access to emergency services. We thank you for your cooperation and support in this matter. Best wishes, RAPS Team

Tuesday 29th September 2020:
Dear Parents/Carers, on Thursday 1st October we have a school census where we complete data about the numbers of children in school and whether they are having a school meal or eligible for an income based Free School Meal. Our funding is then paid to us from this information. We therefore need as many children as possible to have a school dinner (hot dinner, jacket potato or school sandwiches). Please try to help us get the funding we need so we can create the best educational experience for your child. For every infant child that eats a school meal on the 1st October we get £2.30 a day for every day of the school year (that’s a whopping £437 per year) and for every free school meal child who eats a meal we get a further £1,345 per year. If your child always has sandwiches from home, and you are worried that, if they have a school meal on the 1st that they won’t like it or eat it, please feel free to send in sandwiches and then they can have these if they don’t like the school dinner (please just tell the class teacher so they know). Please see below for the special menu Principals will be providing:
Special Menu on Thursday 1st October:
Hot dog with fried onions and tomato ketchup
Veggie hot dog with fried onions and tomato ketchup
Served with chunky wedges, boston beans and vegetable crudité
Chocolate sponge with vanilla ice cream
SO EVERYONE….. PLEASE TRY A SCHOOL MEAL ON THE 1ST OCTOBER.
If your child is eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals or Free School Meals then this meal will be provided free of charge. For everyone else, the charge is £2.15. Please book your child's meal in the usual way.
Monday 28th September 2020:
Good morning, If you haven't already done so, please can you book an appointment for your child for Parent's Evening. This year we will be facilitating this slightly different due to government guidelines. Once you have booked you will receive an email before your appointment time with instructions of how to use Teams and a link on the email that will take you to your meeting. Appointments can be made via the MCAS app by clicking on the three red lines which will then produce a drop down menu where you can select Parents Evening followed by the date you would like, select book, and then scroll down to your preferred time. If you have any questions or are unable to book for any reason please contact the School Office. Best wishes, RAPS Team.
Friday 25th September 2020:
Parents Evening is now ready to be booked. Please could you book an appointment for your child for Parent's Evening. You will be able to book this via the MCAS App. This can be found in the menu bar on the left hand side where the three red lines are. Click on the three red lines in the top left corner which will then produce a drop down menu, select parent's evening, select your preferred date and then select book, followed by a scroll down menu where you will be able to select a time. If you have any problems please contact the School Office or pop in to see us. Thank you
Good morning, now that Autumn seems to have arrived, and the temperature has dropped, please can we ask that a coat is sent in with your child each day. Thank you for your cooperation.
Wednesday 23rd September 2020
Good afternoon. Due to current government guidelines it has been necessary to arrange Parents Evening differently this year. This year we will be holding meetings via Microsoft Teams. You will still need to book your meeting via MCAS or by calling the school office if you have not installed the MCAS app. The parents evening section can be found on the left hand side. Booking will be open from 10am this Friday to 10am on the 7th of October. If you have booked your slot you will receive an email prior to your appointment time with details about how to access the Teams meeting with your child's Teacher. If you have any questions please contact the School Office. If you have more than one child attending RAPs you will need to make an appointment for each of them as this is for the Whole School. Thank you.
Friday 18th September 2020
We have noticed that at the start of the day parents are starting to congregate outside the school gates before 8.15. Can I remind you the School gates will open at 8:15 and close at 8:30 to allow a ‘fluid’ entry and avoid over-crowding – please do not arrive on the school site prior to 8:15 .We have opted for a fluid entry as we felt that if we give year groups set times then we will have lots of parents waiting around as they may have 2 or even 3 different drop off times. Lots of schools that had set entry times have now opted for a fluid entry system. We operate a one-way system and parents leave via the Newington Road gate. Children can be taken around to classrooms by one parent. If your child is old enough to be dropped off at the dance-studio gate to walk around to class by themselves, that would help us maintain social-distancing at drop-off time. Please can parents be mindful of social distancing and ensure that they keep their distance and leave the school site as quickly as possible. Thank you for your co-operation.
Friday 4th September 2020

Please ring the bell upon arrival and we will come to let you in. Kind regards, Suzi Stow, After School Club Supervisor
