19/05/2020: Home Learning

Another day of learning

Learning for today:

PE: Rosie Wicks, Yoga, a long walk later today? Make sure you do a little bit of exercise today!

M: Start with a speedy recap of your 11x and 12x. You can do this with a dice game if you have dice, chanting, or even bingo.

Watch the learning videos for Lesson 2 AND Lesson 3: Equivalent fractions: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

We know there are two things we can do to help us find equivalent fractions. We can use a fraction wall (attached below) or we can use a particular method to find equivalent fractions. This involves multiplying our numerator (top number) and denominator (bottom number) by the SAME number to find another equivalent fraction.

Use the fraction wall to check my answers:

1/3 is equivalent to 2/6   (1 X2 = 2 AND 3 X2 = 6)

2/3 is equivalent to 6/9   (2 X3 = 6 AND 3 X3 = 9)

2/3 is equivalent to 8/12   (2 X4 = 8 AND 3 X4 = 12)

Practice questions: (questions get slightly trickier, don't panic!)

  1. Find 3 equivalent fractions for  a)  1/4    b)  2/5    c) 2/6      d)  3/7
  2. True or false? 2/3 is greater than ¾
  3. ( Fill the missing gap with <, > or = )   1/4 ______ 4/12
  4. 6/9 is equivalent (exactly the same) to 2/3. True or false
  5. ( Fill the missing gap with <, > or = )   8/16 ______ ½
  6. Agree or disagree? Justify answer:  3/7 is greater than 3/8

E: Catch up with the story so far: I have added the whole audio and picture book can be found online!

Journal entry day: What has happened over the past few days for you? What did you do over the weekend? How are you feeling? Did you enjoy our core text?? What are you most looking forward to this week? Have you helped out at home?

RWInc: Take a look at today’s learning task for Jar of Oil! Spelling and text, as always, attached below! Don’t forget to send pictures of your learning!

TOPIC: Today is your final piece day! Take a look at your plan from yesterday so you know what you want to write about in your beautiful work. Use your notes in your workbook, the Internet, books, your adults etc. and use one piece of A4 paper or a double spread (as we would in school) to create your final piece. Take your time, don’t forget to illustrate and colour in and write in your best cursive! I cannot wait to see what you get up to!!

Extra activities:

R: Access Powerpoint and listen along to The Diamond Brothers and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. I have uploaded the next story!

Help out at home: Find your adult and see how you can help make their day a little better? Can you unload the dishwasher? Make them a sandwich? Water the plants?

Spelling: T5W4 words can be found online.

Have a super Tuesday! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures of yourself doing learning/upload to Padlet! Missing you as always!
