Counting/Starter: Counting backwards from 20.

Today we are learning to halve an even group.

Children can halve quantities by sharing items into 2 equal groups. The distinction between fair and unfair sharing can be used to emphasise the idea of half as being one of 2 equal parts.

Have 2 teddies and 2 plates and a selection items for halving. Start with an even quantity of loose parts (spoons, seeds, nuts, dried pasta, lego blocks) Ask the children to share out the loose parts fairly so that each teddy gets the same. What will happen if another teddy joins the picnic?

Ask children to explore which quantities will halve exactly into 2 equal groups and which will have one left over. If you have 6, can you give both teddies the same? What about if you start with 5?

(Tomorrow we will be exploring odd and even numbers)

Challenge: Can the children draw pictures to record their findings.

Theme: Growth

Main: Spring. What happens in spring. What changes do we see? Can you name the four seasons. Spring is all about new beginnings and new life. What new things happen in spring?

Extension: Can you name the signs of spring. What changes happen? What happens to the weather? Can you create a weather chart to follow for the week? Is it the same each day? Is it different? Look up to the sky, what do you notice?

Miss Horrigan's P.E Challenge:

I have seen some wonderful ways in which you have all been keeping active, coming up with your own ideas. This week I have set some activities for you to do.

HEALTHY HEARTS  - A circuit training activity which you could challenge yourself to do everyday or as much as you can do.

PLANK & SQUAT CHALLENGES  - These are 60 second challenges.

If you want, you could challenge yourself even more! - you could also do these by setting yourself a 5 minute timer  - 60 seconds doing the challenge and then 30 seconds rest, until you hit your total time of 5 mins. Have a go!

BOCCIA - An activity game that you can do too.

Enjoy - keep active, keep well, keep safe.

I am missing you all - Mrs Horrigan 🙂

Have a lovely day of home learning Team Spurrier :) We miss you!
