4 operations in maths

After recapping on addition and subtraction (including decimal numbers), the focus for the past week has been on multiplication...

We have reviewed the formal column method for multiplying a 4-digit number by a single digit and a 2-digit number as well as reminding the children the simplest method for multiplying or dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.

Next week, we will be moving onto division, where we will be using the 'bus stop' method of short division when dividing by a single digit and then introducing a variety of adaptations of this for dividing by 2-digit numbers.

As ever, instant recall of times tables facts underpin all of these methods, so please take time to practise these at home.
