Sink or Float?

Continuing our Materials Everywhere topic, we have been discussing the appropriateness of different materials for different uses. The children arte very good at naming materials and their properties so do ask them about various objects around the home or out and about. 

The children could use any materials/resources to make their boats today but they all chose one of four things; paper, magnets, lego or duplo.  We then set up a testing station and tested to see if they would float or sink. Much to the children's surprise the paper was the best floater.
