We love reading in Team Brun-Cialis...
We read with every member of the class as much as possible to track their reading ability. However, reading is a skill that needs practise. This means that the children should be reading at home. The school policy says at least 4 times a week. This can include listening to your child read or reading with them and discussing what is happening in the text.
When you read with your child please record this in their reading record.
The Literacy Trust says that reading with your child "has astonishing benefits for children: comfort and reassurance, confidence and security, relaxation, happiness and fun. Giving a child time and full attention when reading them a story tells them they matter. It builds self-esteem, vocabulary, feeds imagination and even improves their sleeping patterns." (National Literacy Trust, 2020)
