Can a pine cone help us predict the weather?

...we have been investigating how pinecones respond to changes in weather conditions. We have set up an investigation in our classroom with pinecones in different locations - immersed in water, above a warm radiator, outside the classroom and inside by by the door.  As a class, we made predictions of how they will react. Let's see if we were right!
