Biomes and the rainforest

We have continued with our topic, 'Our Precious World', this week, where we have explored the different biomes that can be found around the world, before looking in-depth at the Amazon rainforest...

After identifying the 6 main biomes of the world and establishing some of their key features, we looked in more detail at the world's rainforests - and the Amazon Rainforest in particular. Some fascinating facts came to life during this learning. For example, although rainforests take up only 8% of the earth's landmass, they are home to 50% of its species and produces 20% of the world's oxygen! See what else your child can remember and share with you.
