Maths:
Warm up you brains by doing some speedy subtractions. Use the one hundred square attached to help, or use your fingers, resources like cubes or Lego. Find the biggest number then take away the smaller number Tip: When we subtract we count back! Also remember that if you are subtracting 1 it’s just one less than... take away 2 is just 2 less than...

We can use the language; weighs, heavier, lighter, more than, less than to compare the mass of different items. You can even put items in order of their mass, showing which are heavier and which are lighter.

We have been looking at the story of The Ugly Duckling. You probably know the story well now – and now you can act it out using actions!
Today we are going to think about the structure of the story in the right order. We are going to have a go at creating a story mountain for The Ugly Duckling.

Today we are going to consolidate our learning about animals so far. What have we learnt so far – can you tell your grown up?!
We have learnt: the names of animals and their features and we can compare them with each other, how to label an animal, the different groups animals belong to, how we can group them according to what they eat (and the different names we give them) and how we can use this knowledge to care for a pet! Wow! What a lot of learning!
Today we are going to use what we have learnt to explore animals a bit further before we move on to the rest of our topic and we have some special pictures and videos to look at! First of all, did you know that Mrs Fox has a “creepy box”?! She is interested in nature and over the years she has collected interesting animal things to put in her own special museum! She has very kindly prepared some photos of these special objects for us to look at (because she can’t show you in school at the moment). Take a peek inside her creepy boxes 1-4 below!
Then we are going to take a virtual trip to Chester Zoo! In Term 5 we would normally go on a school trip to the zoo or animal sanctuary, so instead the zoo is coming to you!
