Starter:  More and less. Can you make two groups? One with more and one with less?

Main: IALT Create an AB pattern in a range of contexts.

Activity: Introduce key word- Pattern. What does it mean?

Demonstrate a simple AB pattern with at least 3 repeats so children can see the pattern. Encourage children to say the pattern out loud so it encourages them to continue the pattern.

Challenge: 1. Head, shoulder, head, shoulder, head, shoulder   2.Knees, clap, knees, clap, knees, clap  3. Hand up, hand down, hand up hand down

Can you come up with a simple sound pattern?

Key Questions: Say the pattern- What do you notice?  What is my pattern?  Is this pattern correct?  How could we sort it out?  Does it work now?  Can you make the same sound pattern? Can you make a different sound pattern?

Tuesday: Counting: Can the grownup clap and then the child say how many claps there were? Repeat with stamps etc.

Starter:  Missing number- Lay out the numbers 1-10 on the floor and hide one. Which one is missing?

Main: IALT Create an AB pattern in a range of contexts

Activity: Re-Cap yesterday’s learning of Pattern.  Create a simple pattern of green brick, red brick, green brick, red brick. Challenge the children to spot and continue the pattern and try having a go on their own.  Demonstrate pattern in both horizontal and vertical ways

Try pattern tongue twister: Red lorry, yellow lorry.

Starter: Ordering 3 objects by height or length. Can you explain what happens to them as you move down the line? E.g gets longer/taller.

Main: IALT Create an AB pattern in a range of contexts

Activity: Re-cap learning from yesterday- Pattern Using loose parts (things around the house) make a pattern. Can the children continue/copy the pattern? Consider colours/sizes used in patterns. Encourage language such as round leaf, pointy leaf etc.

Challenge: Adult to make a pattern. Can the child continue it and say what the pattern is?

Starter: Recognising numbers 1-10. Have flashcards on a piece of paper for the numbers 1-10 and ask children to say each number out of order. Can the children write the numbers too?

Main: IALT Create an AB pattern in a range of contexts

Activity: Presenting patterns with deliberate errors, including extra, missing and swapped items, e.g. red cube, blue cube, red cube, blue cube, red cube, red cube, blue cube – identifying there is an extra item and fixing it by removing the extra red cube, putting in an extra blue cube, or swapping the final cubes. Ask the children to make a pattern with a deliberate mistake and challenging a grownup to spot it.

Topic:

Tuesday: What is the story of Christmas?  What happened in the story of the Nativity? Why do we celebrate Christmas? Read the storybook https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s56Xa_C54I  or use the Nativity story PowerPoint attached to re-tell the story. How did Mary and Joseph feel at each stage of the journey? TTYP

Activity: can you create a nativity scene with your toys? Or draw a nativity picture using different materials? Can you act out the story?

Wednesday: What do you do for Christmas? How do you celebrate Christmas?

What do you do with your family? Christmas PowerPoint (see attached) Is it the same or different to what you do? Here are some ways that we celebrate Christmas at school. We make decorations, we decorate the tree, we sing songs, we make cards and send them, we give presents and we have Christmas lunch together.

Challenge: Can you write a letter to Santa?

Thursday: How do others celebrate Christmas? Do we think people around the world celebrate Christmas in the same way we do?  Let’s find out how Christmas is celebrated around the world

Show world map and globe and point out where each country is. Share Christmas around the world PowerPoint (see attached).
