On Monday, the Crab Museum came into school to tell us all about a competition they are running to find the World's Funniest Crab Joke! We are also very excited that our KS2 JLT has been invited to judge the competition alongside Harry Hill, Phil Wang and Sally Phillips! The winner of the competition will be crowned on international crab day - Friday 26th April 2024. In the meantime, start submitting your best crab jokes via the link on their web page - Crab Joke Competition — Crab Museum
Today in PSHE we have been learning about human rights and what rights we have as individuals.
Take a look at this powerpoint that covers some of the articles in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

What a wonderful end to our Neurodiversity Festival! Team Kateley joined Team Amin in their classroom to watch screenings of our fantastic fairytale retells! What fun!
Apologies for the lack of consistency spellings the last few weeks! We have had a few off timetable days and theme days meaning hasn't been possible to fit everything in(not that the children probably minded!) But back to it for next week!
We ask that the children bring in their completed spelling sheets on Friday morning at the latest.
Children that do not bring in the sheet will spend part of their golden time completing it.
If you have lost your sheet, please ask for another before Friday!
Alternatively, practise on a piece of paper at home and bring that to show us! :)
If there is a legitimate reason for your child to have not completed the spellings / left them at home, please let me know.
Apart from our common exception words, all our spellings this week are words ending in -ing, doubling the consonant, for prod becomes prodding.
prodding |
beginning |
spinning |
nodding |
shrugging |
dropping |
skipping |
running |
Earth |
bicycle |

Our focus for Neurodiversity Week has been dyslexia. We read Aaron Slater, Illustrator by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIdwQVG0RvU and discussed what it's like to have dyslexia.
We talked about people we know and famous people who have dyslexia and how they have found ways to overcome challenges they face. For example because Aaron found it difficult to read and write when he had to share a story with his class he drew his story instead.
We also took part in an activity where we wrote in different ways to experience what it might have been like for Aaron if he was writing his story with words.
We had some great discussions and thought a lot about how Aaron kept going and found a way to use the things he was good at to help him.
We had an amazing time today taking part in a silent disco! We even had a few conga lines form! It was great to sing and dance along to the music, or listen and do some drawing if we needed a break. We have some excellent dancers in Team Kateley!
Next week RAPS will be taking part in a week learning all about neurodiversity! Please find a social story for next week below. We will go through the next day with children at the end of each day!
With only a few weeks to go, please read for more info.
Weird and wonderful request: jam jars with lids

It is becoming more common for children to not return the sheet, meaning that many children are missing part of their golden time practising their spellings. If there is a legitimate reason for your child to have not completed the spellings / left them at home, please email me :)
